Jewellery

I find it really hard to discard beautiful pieces of wood no matter how small they are. I started making jewellery with a collection of beautiful off-cuts of wood which were too small to use in my boxes. In some cases I introduced colours with paints.

The making of jewellery opened my eyes into a whole new world of making. I started to look at different materials people make jewellery with and wondered, in some cases how they dealt with their off-cuts and waste materials. I started asking for off-cuts of Perspex from makers who otherwise would have discarded them and started to incorporate them into some of my own “off-cut” jewellery. I enjoy the vibrant colours and contrast that the Perspex can bring to may work and that wasted materials can become something beautiful and long lasting.
